MEDICAL TECHICIAN
STATEMENT
Every where in the
world there is people suffering, in need of help, check the situation, nation
by nation, this is a revelation for people to bear. Medical technicians are
needed especially scandal that went on in japan, war in Jamaica, war in libia,
this is no time for division. I hate to see people lose their lives while
others can do something about it.
My name is Ebenezer
shyaka; I’m a student at the salt lake community college. My ultimate goal is
the need of obtaining a challenging entry-level position as a Medical
Technician. My experience over at the community college has helped me attain
tremendous skills that I need to face life’s challenges. I’ve included some of
my training that I have received over at community college: I have training in
Emergency Medical Services(EMS), I am especially trained to take care of people
with disabilities, I got the training over at Columbus community services, it
is a company that takes care of remedial people. Basically what we did is made
sure our clients were instruct those people for daily needs. I spent huge
amount of time with them, I gave medication on time, I delivered epi-pen
whenever needed, I drove them back and forth to work. I cook for them. I was
kind of like an emergency parent for these people. And as far as the food goes,
that meant you had to be certified by the state for handling their food because
these guys were special in a way that meant if one of them is harmed you go to
jail. It was only natural that I had to get the food handlers permit. Instructors
over at the board of health taught me important tips on food, like how long to
leave the food out before you put in the refrigerator. And all that I needed to
know about food poisoning. However that wasn’t the half of taking care of these
guys, you also had to be certified by the of Utah in Basic First Aid Training,
just in case one these people get a cut somewhere on their extremities. Because
you have to protect yourself and your clients for any infectious diseases.
These guys were like little children, they did not know how to separate good
form a bad, you had keep the knives away from them. And you would never know
when these fragile people might have an episode that requires medical
attention. Such as if they went unconscious, you had to be prepared to deal
with the situation. You had to give them CPR and revive them on the spot . You
didn’t really know what kind of client you would perform cardiac pulmonary
resuscitation on, until it happened, because they were different age groups
some of them were adults, other children and infants. That is why I am
certified in Adult, Child Infant and Two Persons CPR&AED. Or if they had a
seizure, you had to deliver epinephrine on the spot. This one time my client
had a seizure in the movie theater. Of course his life was inmy hands. And I
kept everything I would need handy so this wasn’t much of a puzzle for me. I
got out the kit, pull out the epi-pen, seconds later he was fine. Pretty much
you had to be their legal guardian and be prepared for the unexpected.
Following Instructions and Being a Fast learner. This was a critical stage of
work following directions and being able to learn every thing that goes along
with your instructions because you had to go run errands for these guys like we
had to go shopping for them, we had to walk them in the park, we had to drive
them everywhere they needed to go, we had to dress them, shower them everything
that a damaged brain cannot tell the body to do we had to do for them And
pretty much you had to be a quick learner to grasp the entire concept. My
experience over at Columbus community service had taught all that I need to
know about disabled people.
